29 year old Almeron ELLIS joined up to fight the Rebs in 1862. He left his wife and children in Pleasant Valley, Wisconsin for three long years. He was a Private in the Wisconsin 30th Infantry, Company I.

Almeron died here of 'paralysis' in 1898, four days after arriving here with his family from Milwaukee. He was a farmer and a mechanic. He's buried next to his wife Rosina next to the cemetery entrance lane. Only a crude temporary concrete stone ever marked his grave. Two of his many children, Lillian & Alfred, are buried nearby, both died in their 30's - same basic markers.

Almeron's parents were Salathiel and Priscilla (Ingalls) Ellis.
