Organized for Confederate service August 10, 1861; reorganized May, 1862; consolidated with 12th Tennessee Infantry Regiment June 16, 1862 to form 12th Consolidated Tennessee Infantry Regiment.

He was buried 27 May 1922 and was the widower of Martha Elizabeth (Williams}Strother.
Robert was born about 1835.
His parents were Ira and Nancy (Edwards) Strother.
His son Ira Bolivar Strother died at age 11 of yellow fever in New Orleans LA- see FAG #71835712

STROTHER—Robert Franklin Strother, aged 81 years, passed away at the family home, 910 Bancroft street, December 5. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, December 6th, at 2:30 o’clock from the parlors of A. G. Wickman, 1146 Elk street, Rev. Fred Alban Well(?), of the Unitarian church, officiating. The remains will be taken to Seattle for cremation, leaving here at 6 p. m., on the Great Northern.”
