ISAAC PRESSON, 101, MASON, DIES
Isaac Newton Presson, 101 years old, who served witht the Confederate Army at the battle of Vicksburg in the Civil War, died this forenoon at the Masonic Home at Zenith, near Des Moines. Mr. Presson had resided at the home the past several years..
Mr. Presson was born at Camden, Tenn., in 1837. He was a lieutenant with the Confederate Army. Captured by Union soldiers at Vicksburg, he spent more than a year in military prisons at Memphis, Tenn., and at Johnson's Island, Va.
After the war Mr. Presson settled in Missouri and taught in schools there many years. Later he turned a hobby, horticulture, into a business and followed this line of work until coming to Washngton in 1910, when he settled at Mabton, Yakima County.
Mr. Presson joined the Masons in Mississippi in 1864 and the time of his death was the second oldest living Mason in point of service. He was a member of Mabton Lodge No. 166, F. & A. M.
Surviving are a son, A. C. Presson, and a daughter, Mrs. Effie Low, both residing near Mabton.
