Family History

Long-time lighthouse keeper in Washington, stationed at Point Robinson and Coupeville. A Civil War veteran (acting second engineer aboard the Mississippi, regular Navy), he spent most of his life at or around the sea. He was in receipt of Navy pension from December 1880, and qualified under the age law in 1907. However, he was in Billings, Montana Territory for a time in 1883, joined Miller Post 31 (GAR) at Seattle (member, 1900), and claimed to have been in the "army" in 1910. His body was found at Fort Casey near Coupeville. His place of burial has not been determined.
