Family History

Robert Harrison barely had time to unpack at Orting. The 67-year old veteran of Company
H, First New York Infantry arrived at the Washington State Soldiers Home on 7 May 1908 and
died two days later. His terminal diagnosis of “angina pectoris” telegraphs a probable cardiac
arrest. Perhaps the trip was too much for him. He came from Seattle by train. Most of the
veterans did come by train. They received one-way tickets.
