An obscure Civil War unit name is seen here: Olney’s Oregon Cavalry. It was made up of local volunteers to replace US Army soldiers called away from the Columbia River Gorge to go back east. The unit earned the nickname “Olney’s Forty Thieves” because of their penchant for theft and racketeering.

Lucy Nichols married Herbert C. "Herb" Ingalls in 1888. Children: Clarence Alsie, Harold "Kenneth," Elsie Florence Ingalls Bechtolt and Donald Kenton.
Lucy divorced Herb in 1910.
She married Isaac Osgood in 1911. Isaac and Lucy moved to Seattle.
