CIVIL WAR VETERAN OF LAWRENCE GETS HIS FINAL SUMMONS
After a residence of nearly twenty years in Whatcom county, John Benjamin Martin, who served as a private in Company K, Sixth Pennsylvania, R. V. C., during the Civil war, died Tuesday night at his home near Lawrence, at the age of 84 years. He came to this county from Kansas in 1902. He was a member of J. B. Steedman Post No. 24, G. A. R., and is survived by his widow and two sons, Arthur and Thomas, both of Lawrence. The funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 a. m. at the family home, with the Rev. George Shattuck, of Nooksack, officiating. The body will be shipped by the Gillies Undertaking company to Seattle for cremation.
