He was with General Grant when the South surrendered.

Death Ends Kin of Betsy Ross
March 20, 1937
In the death Saturday of, Mrs. Phebe Peasley, 83, at her home in Greenacres, there passed a distant cousin of Betsy Ross, designer of the American Flag.
Mrs. Peasley was the widow of Mount Peasley, whom she married in a pioneer sod house at rising Sun., Kansas, October 8, 1871. Mr Peasley, who served with the Union army in the Civil war, died in 1935, the last survivor of Nathan Gregg post, G.A. R., Spokane.
Mrs. Peasley was the daughter of William Newton and Ann Ross cousin of Betsy. She was born in Hancock County, Illinois, and went with her parents to South Dakota by ox team in the early days of Dakotah territory. At the time of her marriage she was living with her parents in the frontier town of York, Nebraska.
in 1902 the Peasleys settled in the Rock creek Valley, six miles northeast of Latah. In 1915, they moved to Greenacres. Mrs. Peasley was active in the work of the Methodist Church and its ladies' aid society.
Funeral Services will be held in the Greenacres Methodist Chuch today at 2:30p.m. with burial in "The Pines," at Opportunity. Mrs. Peasley is survived by two sons, Earl D., Kellogg, Idaho, and Roy A., Portland, Oregon; three daughters, Mrs. Olive Johnson, Spokane, and ida Davidson, Greenacres, and Mrs. Laura Dick, Jerome, Idaho; 34 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, James, son of Mr. and Mrs Cecil Shontell.
