COLORED VETERAN TELLS COUNCIL HE FAVORS FILM

Mark Cain, an aged colored veteran of the civil war, came before the city council today to give his views on the exhibition of "The Birth of a Naton."

Mr. Cain is staunchly in favor of the production, he told the commissioners, and said it was the finest picture he ever had seen.

Mr. Cain, who says he was born a slave in 1840 fought through the civil war under General Grant and has resided in Spokane for the last 17 years.

"And I registered and voted at every election," he remarked proudly.
