OBITUARY

THE CHARITON DEMOCRAT
Chariton, Iowa
Wednesday, September 10, 1884

MRS. CLARA STELLA LIVERMORE

Mrs. Clara Livermore entered into rest on Friday morning, August 22nd, 1884, at the home of her parents, in Chariton, Iowa. She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Temple. Born August 3rd, 1855, she resided in this city all her life, and made this the scene of her school days and of her friendships as well as of her sickness and death.

She united with the Presbyterian Church under the pastorate of Rev. J. S. Reed, June 5th, 1874. Since this time she has been an active member of that society, as far as her delicate health would permit.

On the 23rd of September, 1874, she was united in marriage to Mr. C. B. Livermore. Her health began failing some time ago, but no serious fears were apprehended until medical examination revealed the fact that her lungs were affected, and that the first roots of consumption had been laid some time before this.

On Saturday, August 14th, she began to grow weaker, and it was not until two days before her death that she realized her end was near. Then she was ready to go, death had no terrors for her. Her last request was for her family to meet her above. She died the death of the righteous, her last end was like His. She passed away Friday morning, August 22nd, at nine o'clock.

She leaves a father, mother, two brothers, two sisters, and her only child, Burdette Temple Livermore, a bright boy of six years, and many near relatives and friends who deeply mourn her loss.
