John Collins Dryden was the son of William & Sarah (Coonrod)Dryden. He fought in the Civil War, Co. K, 91st Illinois Inf. along with his brother Joshua G. Dryden. He married around 1868 to Josephine Cunningham the daughter of Richard B. & Mary K. (Brannen)Cunningham. They had 4 duaghters:
Minnie L.; Ida J.; Luna M.; Sarah E. Dryden, all born in Illinois. Josephine died November 17, 1881 and is buried in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Greene Co., Ill. John lived a time in Lyon Co., Ks. and some in Greenwood Co., Ks. where his daughters were married. They then moved to Washington State and he lived the rest of his life there near his daughters.
