Pvt George E. Jefferies served in Michigan's 8th Cav., in Company L. He was not nor did he achieve the rank of Colonel while in the sevice? The rank of Col. is mis-leading & from the headstone. It really means "Co. L." His Civil War record has him-listed George Jeffers or Jeffries", (He"s one of two listed in Mich, but the other is under the 7th in the Mich ).
