YOUNG SUDDENLY DIES Was a Well-Known Physician, Coming to Seattle in 1885 VETERAN OF CIVIL WAR Will Be Buried With Military Honors From University Congregational Church Death came suddenly yesterday to Dr. Thomas M. Young at his home, 4119 Eleventh avenue. Dr. Young was a veteran of the civil war, an old-time physician and long a resident of this city. He had been ill only a short time. He came to Seattle in 1885 from his birthplace in Mercer county, Pa., and prior to his retirement from active practice held a high position in the medical profession. Dr. Young was born in 1841. When the civil war broke out he enlisted as a private in the Minnesota volunteers and served until July 19, 1865, when he was mustered out after the grand review before President Lincoln at Washington. When he received his discharge he had risen to the rank of lieutenant. |
